Cyber Bullying

"REPLACE CYBER-BULLYING WITH CYBER-BELIEVING. LET US BRING EACH OTHER UP INSTEAD OF BRINGING OTHERS DOWN. BELIEVE & BUILD"

Cyber bulling or cyber harassment is a form of bullying using electronic medium. It is also called as online bullying. It take place on social media, messaging platforms, gaming platforms and mobile phones. Online threats and mean, aggressive or rude texts, tweets, posts or messages all count. So does posting personal information, pictures or videos designed to hurt or embarrass someone else.

Both face to face and cyberbullying can often happen alongside but cyber-bullying leaves a digital footprint i,e. a  record that can be used to prove useful and provide evidence to stop such abuse.

Wrong comments that focus on things like people's gender, religion, race or any other physical differences count as discrimination which is against the law in many states. That means the police can get involved in this, and the cyber harassers can get severe penalties.

Online bullying can be really particularly damaging and bothering because it is very hard to face. It is also hard to control as the person which has been affected from this has no idea of how many people have seen the messages or to how much extent the content is shared.

EFFECTS OF CYBER-BULLYING

When online bullying happens it seems like you have been attacked even inside your home, everywhere and feels like there is no way to get rid of it. It can have last long effects on us in many ways:-
  • Mentally - feeling sad, stupid and even angry
  • Physically - loss of sleep, headaches or tensions
  • Emotionally - feeling regretful or losing interest in the things you love

The feeling of being laughed or harrased by others can prevent people from raising their voice and also stops them to take the actions against the criminals. If we talk of extreme cases, in cyberbullying people take their own lives.

What can we do of Cyber-Bullying:-

1.Reporting:- Most of the cyber experts believe that if you felt like you have been bullied online you must talk to any trustable adult. Sometimes people don't tell about their condition to anyone or hesitate to tell because they are also not 100% sure who is really behind all this and feel reluctant to report a bully. But bullying can get even into worse situation if not reported to the police as sometimes they caught the bullies so its worthwhile to report it.
Even the social media sites take it very seriously when someone bullies someone or post hate and cruel words over internet. if users report abuse the site administrator blocks that bullies account and not allow them to use their services in future. If someone sends you mean texts or emails immediately report it to the phone service or email services.

2.Resist to respond:- If you starts to ignore the bullies is the most efficient way to take away their power, but that isn't that easy to do so. Taking a break when you are faced with cyber bullying gives you space so you not responds to the bullies. Responding them when we are upset can make the things worse. Although it's not good to respond to a bully but saving evidence against them can actually help in proving their case. Blocking the bullies can also be the good option.
